Open House Chicago Fair Trade was a World Fair Trade Day event hosted by Chicago Fair Trade. The event website featured an interactive map highlighting the locations of participating fair trade businesses in Chicago and the suburbs. Each business was tagged to a category with custom map theming. Sample itineraries were provided based on interests and neighborhood groups.

At each location, participants could scan a QR code to stamp their virtual passport. Once they collected enough stamps, they could enter a raffle to win prizes from Chicago Fair Trade business members.

The event was promoted through social media graphics, email campaigns, and posters distributed to local businesses. Each business had a unique check-in sign and code for the virtual passport stamps (in case visitors were not QR Code savvy). Instead of trying to calculate the right amount of "left arrow" or "right arrow" signs for each location, I included a yard sign with a dashed line for arrows so that each location could place them appropriately and fill in the arrow with a permanent marker.
